Going through each day in pain makes it a lot less fulfilling and a lot more challenging to rise and face each day. If you've been dealing with back, hip, neck or shoulder pain, it's time to get to a chiropractor. Below, you'll find some information that'll help you understand why you're in so much pain and what the chiropractor can do to help.

Go to a Chiropractor

Seriously – just go to a chiropractor! If you've never had an adjustment, it can be a bit frightening, but in all honesty, there's nothing to be scared of. During the initial visit, x-rays will likely be taken. Then, the chiropractor will study the images and locate the trouble areas. If there are serious problems, he will make recommendations for alternative treatment as well as an adjustment in some cases.

If you're just out of alignment, the chiropractor will discuss why the pain is happening, discuss what can be done about it and recommend the number and frequency of future visits. In most cases, it will take about three adjustments before true relief is felt. The first might take some pressure off, but don't go in expecting miracles – it takes time to undo the damage that's been done over the years.

Contact your Insurance Provider

Most health insurance policies do cover chiropractic adjustments. You may owe a co-pay or have to pay towards your policy deductible, but other than that, the services should be covered. Some policies will limit the number of treatments that can be covered in a year, generally 12 or 25 – after that, you'll be left to pay out of pocket for any treatments needed beyond that.

Stay Active

As hard as it is to stay active when you're in pain, it will do you good. If you allow those muscles to stiffen and the joints to settle back where they were, it will take much longer to find relief. Get up and go for a walk. It doesn't have to be a fast-paced walk either – just enough to get yourself up and all of your muscles and joints moving.

Tip: If you're stuck at a desk for long periods of time, make sure that you're at least standing up and stretching every now and then during the day. Don't let yourself get stiff.

There's no need to wait – go find yourself a chiropractor same day appointment and get yourself some relief. Hopefully, by this time next year, you'll feel better than you have in years.
